Description

“Saint Joan”

“Saint Joan” was one of the best plays of Bernard Shaw’s in the twentieth century and was read and performed by Shaw.

Joan of Arc, was of a French girl. It was one of the world’s finest stories, though it was more than five hundred years ago. She was canonized as St. Joan of Arc in 1920. Her name had come to be held in special reverence because France was slowly recovering from the burden of German invasion during 1914–1918 war. At that time the French people got new courage, and she uplifted the country 1918 and again in 1945 after another German invasion.

Though Bernard Shaw wrote “Saint Joan” and created special interest in the Indian culture in men and who loved freedom as passionately as she did. He emphasized certain ideas in the 1430s but made it appear in 1920s.

Joan of Arc was more of a devoted, and she became convinced visited by Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret and Saint Machael. All the priests and the army man laughed at her vision and the priests of the Christian Churches found her voices more of a devil than evil.

Joan of Arc was a Roman Catholic, and there was a conflict between church of the Christians and the Catholics and at that time the leaders of the political party thought that they would be in danger. At that time Martin Luther started fighting against the corrupt practice, and started his movement which was known as Reformation. And at that cost Germany, Holland in England and many parts of the world Protestant churches grew up in opposition to the Roman Catholic church. There was a war between Roman Catholics and Protestants. At the end Joan’s speech after she heard that she will be in prison said “My sword will conquer, will come back to you as a living woman.

Shaws prose style lies not in emotional power or conscious beauty, but in lucidity and clarity plainless and clearness. He wrote to open peoples mind and go for new good ideas.
